Working at Heights

Course Description

This course provides participants with the knowledge and practical skills needed to safely perform work at heights. It covers hazard identification, fall prevention strategies, proper use of fall protection equipment, and emergency procedures to reduce the risk of injuries and comply with workplace safety regulations.


Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify hazards associated with working at heights.
  • Understand legal and regulatory requirements for fall protection.
  • Select and correctly use appropriate fall protection equipment (harnesses, lanyards, anchor points).
  • Apply safe work procedures and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Respond effectively in the event of a fall or emergency.

Prerequisite

  • None required.
  • Recommended: basic physical fitness and familiarity with workplace safety principles.

Course Attire

  • Comfortable work clothing suitable for heights.
  • Closed-toe shoes or safety boots.
  • PPE including harnesses, helmets, and gloves as required.

  • Employees required to work at elevated positions (roofs, scaffolding, ladders, platforms).
  • Supervisors overseeing work at heights.
  • Safety officers responsible for fall protection compliance.
  • Maintenance and construction staff performing elevated tasks.

  • Duration: 4–6 hours (can be delivered as a single session or split modules).
  • Delivery Mode:
    • Instructor-led classroom or virtual theory session
    • Practical hands-on exercises with fall protection equipment
