Cerified Fire Warden

Course Description

This course prepares employees to fulfil the role of Fire Warden — ensuring fire safety awareness, hazard recognition, fire prevention, and coordinated emergency response within the workplace. It combines fundamental fire science, workplace fire risk controls, safe evacuation leadership, and compliance-focused fire safety practices. TEEX’s fire prevention and safety content are incorporated where relevant, with additional structured fire warden content from accredited fire safety analyses.


Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion, participants will be able to:

  • Understand basic fire science, including fire behaviour, classifications of fire, and causes of fire.
  • Describe legal obligations under OSHA and NFPA that relate to fire warden responsibilities.
  • Identify common workplace fire hazards and fire prevention strategies.
  • Explain the role, duties, and responsibilities of a Fire Warden in fire safety management and emergency response.
  • Interpret fire safety systems, alarm procedures, evacuation routes, and muster points.
  • Lead and assist workplace evacuations in an effective and safe manner.
  • Perform basic fire safety checks and communicate clearly during emergencies.

Prerequisite

  • No formal prerequisites — suitable for employees with basic literacy and workplace safety awareness.
  • Recommended: Familiarity with company emergency procedures and workplace layout.

Course Attire

  • Not applicable for online theory modules.
  • For practical drills or hands-on sessions, participants should wear comfortable attire, closed-toe shoes, and PPE as required by company policy (e.g., high-visibility vest, safety boots).

    • Blended format — Online self-paced modules + live instructor Q&A or internal practice session.
    • In-person workshop (optional) — brief practical session covering evacuation leadership and fire equipment familiarity.
