Rope Rescue Training

Course Description

This course provides participants with the knowledge and practical skills to safely perform rope rescue operations in accordance with industry standards. It focuses on hazard recognition, risk assessment, rope systems, knots, anchors, patient packaging, and team coordination for low- to high-angle rescue scenarios. Participants gain hands-on experience to safely conduct rope rescues while minimizing risk to both rescuers and victims.


Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify hazards and assess risks associated with rope rescue operations.
  • Select, inspect, and safely use rope rescue equipment.
  • Tie essential knots, bends, and hitches for rescue operations.
  • Construct and evaluate anchor systems and rope configurations.
  • Perform low-angle and high-angle rope rescue tasks safely.
  • Package and move victims using proper rope rescue techniques.
  • Work effectively as a member of a coordinated rope rescue team.

Prerequisite

  • None required.
  • Recommended: basic emergency response training and physical fitness appropriate for technical rescue activities.

Course Attire

  • Appropriate outdoor or work clothing for physical activity.
  • Safety boots, gloves, helmet, harness, and PPE as required for practical exercises.

Certification

Participants who successfully complete the course and practical evaluation receive an Apexis Rope Rescue Training Certificate of Completion.
Recommended Recertification: Every 2–3 years or when rescue procedures, standards, or equipment are updated.
