Warehouse Safety 

Course Description

The Apexis Warehouse Safety Training Program is designed to equip warehouse employees and supervisors with the knowledge and skills needed to identify, assess, and control hazards commonly found in warehouse and storage environments. The course covers safe material handling, ergonomics, equipment awareness, housekeeping, chemical safety, and emergency preparedness. Emphasis is placed on practical risk prevention to reduce injuries, property damage, and operational downtime while promoting a strong safety culture.


Learning Outcomes

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

  • Identify common warehouse hazards, including slips, trips, falls, struck-by incidents, and poor housekeeping.
  • Apply safe material handling and lifting techniques to reduce musculoskeletal injuries.
  • Recognize risks associated with warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and conveyors.
  • Understand the principles of safe storage and stacking of materials and products.
  • Explain basic hazard communication requirements, including labels and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Describe appropriate emergency procedures, including fire response, evacuation routes, and incident reporting.
  • Demonstrate safe work practices that contribute to a safer and more efficient warehouse environment.

Prerequisite

  • No formal prerequisites.
  • Suitable for new hires and experienced warehouse personnel.
  • Basic literacy and understanding of workplace safety signage is recommended.

Course Attire

  • Not applicable for online or classroom-based learning.
  • For in-person sessions or warehouse walk-throughs, participants should wear appropriate PPE as required by company policy (e.g., closed-toe safety footwear, high-visibility clothing, gloves).

This course is intended for:

  • Warehouse operatives and material handlers
  • Forklift and equipment operators (awareness level)
  • Supervisors, team leaders, and shift managers
  • Safety officers and facilities personnel
  • Any employee working in or around warehouse operations

Duration and Delivery Mode

  • Duration: Approximately 6–8 hours, depending on delivery format and operational needs.
  • Delivery Mode:
    • Online self-paced learning for theory modules
    • Instructor-led classroom or virtual session for discussion and clarification
    • Optional on-site walkthrough or practical demonstrations for hazard recognition and safe practices

A blended delivery approach is recommended for maximum effectiveness.

Certification

Certification of Participation issued under the authority of  Apexis Risk Innovation Group in alignment with the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (An Agency of the Texas A&M University System)
