Emergency Medical Responder Training

Course Description

This course equips participants with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to provide immediate care in medical emergencies prior to the arrival of advanced medical personnel. It focuses on patient assessment, basic life support, bleeding control, airway management, CPR, automated external defibrillator (AED) use, and emergency response protocols to stabilize patients and improve survival outcomes.


Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize and respond to life-threatening medical emergencies.
  • Conduct rapid patient assessment and determine priority care.
  • Perform CPR and use an AED effectively.
  • Control bleeding and manage shock.
  • Maintain airway and provide basic respiratory support.
  • Handle musculoskeletal injuries and medical emergencies safely.
  • Communicate effectively with emergency medical services and coordinate patient transfer.

Prerequisite

  • None required.
  • Recommended: basic workplace safety knowledge and physical fitness for emergency response activities.

Course Attire

  • Comfortable work or training attire suitable for hands-on exercises.
  • Closed-toe shoes and gloves as required for practical exercises.

Duration and Delivery Mode

  • Duration: 24–40 hours (depending on practical skills assessment and scenario simulations).
  • Delivery Mode:
    • Instructor-led classroom or virtual theory sessions
    • Hands-on practical skills stations, CPR/AED practice, and scenario-based drills

Certification

Participants who successfully complete the course and practical assessment receive an Apexis Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) Certificate.
Recommended Recertification: Every 2 years or following updates to emergency medical protocols or standards.
